About the Badges you will find in this section.
The badges which you will find in this section fall into four categories.- Badges which are re-struck from the original dies, often, but not always, by the original manufacturer.
- Badges which have been cast from the originals.
- Badges which are production over-runs from factories manufacturing for the military or badges which are military surplus and have been in store.
- Badges sourced from collections which we have purchased
It is important to realise that, while everyone likes a bargain, we would not sell for instance, a genuine glengarry badge at a price that is probably 25 years or so out of date. We do offer fair prices though and all of our stock is guaranteed to your satisfaction or your purchase price refunded (subject to prompt return in as supplied condition).Most older and rarer badges will fall into the category 1 above. Produced in most cases with the original dies, the re-strike badges we supply should not be confused with the inferior quality re-strike badges which are on the market today.
Badges in category 1 normally undergo an additional process which ages and tarnishes the badge making them virtually indistinguishable from the "original". Polishing with a proprietary metal polish will remove this finish should this be required. Glengarry badges normally are a mixture of category 1 and category 2 badges, with some die struck and others cast.
Finite Supply
In certain instances the ready availability of particular badges may cease for a period of time. Sometimes it may be a short period of time, other times it may be indefinite. We cannot guarantee that every badge will be available for all time, this is particularly true of certain Volunteer Regiments. Please remember this if you are seeking a particular badge.
Badge Identification
We frequently get asked to identify badges. Unfortunately while we did do this as a no cost service irrespective of whether a customer or not, we have found it neccessary to discontinue offering this service.
